Kizz and Cazz are two Brit girl vegans who want you to be vegan too. So what these two do is take pop songs and change up the lyrics. “Vegan And I Know It” spoof on ‘Sexy and I Know It”.
Look I’m all for the vegans, these are my people. But there are a few things about this video that just turned me off.
Why they portray the vegan with no element of style is beyond me. The non vegan in fur was trendy and pretty. I can tell you first had that you can use cosmetics, dress well and maintain some sort of mainstream appearance and be vegan. You needed wear hemp and tribal prints with a beret. These stereotypes are laughable at best.
Vegans come in all shapes and sizes and designs. They are not all tattooed, hairy pasty women. So let’s shelf that right now.
The song? Well the rap is unintelligible, but I bet the words are adorable. The sing along is grating but has to be there to mimic the original tune.
Will this convert the carnivore? Of course not! What it will do is catch a couple vegans eye and give them a smile. The vegans are a tight knit group (considering we make up about 4% of the population it’s a wonder we don’t all know each other)so we love when anyone gives us a shout out.
In the spirit of PETA2 Kizz and Cazz bring a fun and positive spin to the teenaged set. Informing them while entertaining them. Conversion is one thing- your heart will guide that. It’s the willpower to continue on and not give up when the lifestyle can be so challenging.
It’s fun and it’s a parody so I appreciate it for what it is. Let’s just try to dispel the ‘crunchy granola tree hugger’ appearance stereotype, K?
