As with most musicians, when you die you achieve greatness. This is currently happening with Suicide Silence front man Mitch Lucker. Mitch was killed last week while riding his motorcycle in LA. Death happens, famous or not and tragedy hits every family.
Suicide Silence has been around forever. Never making it big enough to fill a stadium but big enough to have a posse of teenaged girls who scream for them and a gaggle of pock marked teenage boys to ‘stomp’ with. Lucker was infamous (sorta) for his onstage ‘stomp’ and as the Tumblrs roll, the gif’s are full of this move.
Let’s stop a moment and acknowledge this as a very sad tragedy. Lucker at age 28 had a wife and small child and well unexpected death is always most difficult to handle.
What is odd is that now the band released a rather tacky statement.
“Please do not purchase any bootleg RIP shirts from Ebay or other online stores. We want to ensure that those of you who wish to make such purchases will have your money going to the right place & that you’ll receive a quality commemorative product. An official t-shirt & donation fund will be surfacing this week and nothing officially connected to the cause currently exists. Please continue to check this page to keep informed.”
The stabbing line here is ‘quality commemorative product’ . Lucker died not landed on the moon. Donation fund? For? Perhaps his child? People are tragically killed and die every minute- what warrants this ‘fund’? I just can’t help but think this is really out of line. I want my high quality commemorative T-shirt man… 100% cotton or screw that. God forbid the colors run.
