Fans of Rage Against the Machine should totally rejoice as the band is about to release ‘XX’, a massive box set to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
According to PR Newswire, this will be available in three different configurations:
1) 20th Anniversary Edition Deluxe Box Set housing two CDs, two DVDs, one 12" 180gm vinyl LP, one 40 page booklet and two-sided poster.
2) 20th Anniversary Special Edition featuring two CDs and a bonus DVD featuring six tracks in an oversized softpack
3) 20th Anniversary Edition single compact disc (with three bonus tracks). 12" 180gm vinyl editions–a picture disc and a facsimile reproduction–of the original LP, remastered (no bonus tracks) will also be available.
'XX' will include the original album, collectible b-sides, demo tapes recorded in 1991, whereas one of the DVDs will feature their 2010 London reunion free concert – performed as a thank-you to UK fans for making ‘Killing in the Name’ Number One single during Christmas in 2009 – as well as various music videos and the other DVD has the band’s first ever concert!
A few days ago, there were some rumors about an eventual new RATM album, as bassist Tim Commerford was asked by TMZ if the band was recording new material, and just answered with a vague ‘Maybe, maybe’. From this, many blogs started nursing the idea, so this news may just be a coincidence, 'XX' isn’t a new album but could just work as well!
Paul Ryan’s Christmas present (this idea must piss off all the fans) is out on November 27 on Legacy Records.
