fun. Campus Consciousness Tour

Chart topping indie rock-pop sensation fun. have already madeit clear during various performances and interviews that they fully support theLGBTQ community and support marriage rights for all couples of all sexualorientations. Now, the NYC-based sensation has joined with REVERB and Ben &Jerry’s for the REVERB Campus Consciousness Tour which is both a concert and a campaign for social justice. The Campus Consciousness Tour will hit up 8 schools and will be interrupted only by an already sold out show at the RivieraTheater in Chicago.

Personally, I’m so upset that this tour doesn’t include my school, even if my school is already an incredibly tolerant community with avery strong LGBTQ program. But that’s just cause I’m a fun. fanboy. I would hope that all the schools on the tour are school’s that could really use the education about LGBTQ and that can take full advantage of everything the tour has to offer. As lead singer of fun., Nate Ruess, said: “Colleges are fertile ground for activism and change.  It’s exactly where we need to be as we launch our support for LGBTQ equality.”

In addition to their work with REVERB and the Campus Consciousness Tour, fun. will be performing at a special show at the StateTheater in Portland, Maine which will benefit Mainers United for Marriage. This organization is a broad coalition of groups and people working to win the freedom to marry for same-sex couples in Maine and fun.’s show will be helping to raise awareness for Maine’s November 6th vote to allow same sex couples to get marriage licenses in the state of Maine.

It really excites me to learn that my favorite band is doing so much for an incredibly important cause like the issue of gay marriage. This band is so devoted to this issue that it seems like, between tours and interviews and everything else that comes with fame, they’ve had little time to just chill. This only makes their involvement in the REVERB College Consciousness Tour even more impressive. Fun.has a very loud voice when it comes to the debate over gay marriage and I can only hope that their message is as strong on the tour as it is now.

Tickets for the Portland, Maine show have gone up for presale as of September 5th and for more information about the College Consciousness Tour, you can visit www.campusconsciousness.org.
