A Newly Restored Version Of The Beatles 1967 film ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ To Be Released Soon

Beatles fans will certainly rejoice at the news: A newly restored version of the 1967 film ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ – assured by Paul Rutan Jr. of Eque Inc., the company that already did the same for ‘Yellow Submarine’ and by Giles Martin and Sam Okell for the audio remixing – will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on October 8.

According to the LA Times, the deluxe edition will include the DVD and Blu-ray discs, featuring ‘a remixed soundtrack in stereo and 5.1 surround sound, plus a 60-page book with background information, photos, production details, director's commentary from Paul McCartney, new interviews with McCartney and Ringo Starr and a reproduction of the original mono 7-inch EP issued in the U.K.’

That’s sure a lot of stuff, but it got even better for the US release since the EP will be expanded with six more songs and issued as a standard 12-inch LP.

They have also planned a limited theatrical release starting September 27 in the US, as the film was never widely exhibited back in the time.

Honestly, I don’t remember much about the psychedelic film, I haven’t seen it for ages, and I just have a good recollection of the Beatles wearing animal masks during 'I am the Walrus’. But it was a crazy cross country trip featuring the other famous songs ‘Fool on the Hill’, ‘Your Mother Should Know’, ‘Blue Jay Way’, and Flying’.
