I once wrote about assholes in rock and roll: you know, the usual suspects, John Fogerty, Lou Reed, like that. But rumor has it that there is a new generation of assholes coming forth. Ryan Adams comes to mind, as does the King Of Dickheads, Jack White. Some consider him the Patron Saint of Dickheads, a horrible, rude buly and an egomaniac who keeps a mirror on his keyboard so he can check how he looks at any given moment.I mentioned to a friend of mine who knows him how Jack's new album Blunderbuss was awesome and my friend said: "I don't care, I hate Jack White and I won't bother with him". Thereby proving my never get close to the folks you write about theory.
I've only seen White perform live twice, onces ages ago with the White Stripes, and once more recently with the Raconteurs and I thought he was terrible. But Blunderbuss is a terrific little album and while I don't expect great things, I am really interested to see if he can pull it off live. White is playing Sepember 29th and 30th, a Saturday, Sunday, and I got the Saturday. Why you ask?
Because I don't care if he is a horrible little half wit, I care that Blunderbuss is a really good album. And I wanna see him do it live.
