It has been a lot of talk about Fleetwood Mac recently, with first, an upcoming tribute album ‘Just Tell Me That You Want Me’, featuring many young and indie artists, then the death of Bob Welch earlier this year, and now a confirmed reunion and world tour next year!
Stevie Nicks, who was invited on CBS This Morning, said that original Fleetwood Mac members, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and herself, but not singer Christine McVie will get back together on tour in 2013:
‘Next year, so far. It's the plan. Because that's what we do. I do my [solo] thing. And Lindsey is out doing his [solo] thing now. Everybody's on board.’
The band, which was formed in 1967, has been on hiatus since 2009, and the Los Angeles Times also remarks that the news came as a surprise since Mick Fleetwood said last April, in an interview with Playboy magazine, that the thing was unlikely:
‘I don’t believe Fleetwood Mac will ever tour again. But I really hope we do. We have rehearsed and prepared for it since 2010. We were supposed to tour in 2011, but we delayed it for a year to allow Stevie Nicks to support her solo record and for Lindsey Buckingham to do the same with his.’
And he added the whole thing was mostly because of Stevie Nicks and her new passion for her solo career:
‘It comes down to her, and for the first time, I think, even Lindsey has lost his patience. All of this uncertainty is a tremendous change for me.’
‘She has become enthralled and obsessed with her album in a very nice but very inconvenient way. She’s working 20 times harder than she would ever have to with Fleetwood Mac and not making anything close to as much money as she would with us. But that is what she wants to do, and I respect that. In the past I’d not have taken no for an answer. I’d have persuaded Stevie or whoever needed persuading at the time to do the tour. But I’m not doing that this time or ever again, and there is nothing else to say about it.’
She apparently had a change of mind, and Fleetwood Mac fans have already rejoiced, as this could explain the woman wearing a Stevie Nicks t-shirt I saw today in the streets.
