Taking pictures and videos during shows can be a real sport in some cases, sometimes the security guards of the venue are not ok with it for some reasons, other times the performer is not ok with it, and that could turn really bad. A friend of mine told me he got in trouble for filming Eddie Vedder during his ukulele tour.
Ok it may come as a surprise in the case of Pearl Jam’s frontman to suddenly become so controlling when we know about his liberal views and his believe in freedom of expression, but in the case of Danzig? It is as predictable as patchouli at Bonaroo.
At Bonaroo precisely, Danzig became mad at a photographer taking pictures of dancing fans, and apparently not respecting the ‘no photo, no video’ rule! According to the Nashville Scene, the Misfits mad man ‘ran to the side of the stage pointing and screaming before approaching security and then proceeded to run all the way past the side stage, almost into the crowd to walk among us’.
And the irony of this ? One brave or totally high guy (but he was not the only one) filmed a minute of the incident when Danzig was standing by the guard, cursing at the photographer – who said he was sure ‘Danzig was going to kick his ass’ – before returning to the stage minutes later to finish his Danzig Legacy set!
This is so ridiculous! First of all, does he know that every single person in the crowd has a cell phone who can take a decent picture? Will he even try to google Danzig+Bonaroo+Youtube? This is just the obvious proof that his no-video policy simply can’t be applied! He looks like a mad chimpanzee on a testosterone high who just wants to show who is the alpha male for a minute,… So pathetic! But in a way it works because I would not have written about his Bonaroo set without his stormy diva-douchebag outburst.
