Robyn Hitchcock "There Goes the Ice" b/w "Twitch 4 Sam Surfer." Reviewed

I remember my first time hearing Robyn.  I was charmed by his boyish voice.  It was a really typical Brit sound that I adored and with tunes like "My Wife and My Dead Wife" and "The Man With the Light bulb Head", I was an instant fan.  Yeah there were Egyptians too…

This latest tune with vocal addition from K.T Tunstall, is a goose bump making masterpiece whose dark grey sound is intoxicating.  The simplistic guitar accompaniment is ear perfection.

Robyns voice has not faltered and in fact when it does crackle it sounds brilliant.  What's Hitchcock's deal anyway?  Hes a moody sort of freak dontcha think?

He paints some beautiful imagery and This is no exception

A bit more upbeat hand clapping fun is "Twitch 4 Sam The Surfer" sounding almost like a 70's British invasion Hulabaloo type tune I find it strained as if perhaps he had the need to do something upbeat.  Sorta disappointed.   I wish he didn't do this it sounds like an obligation- its not Robyn.  I suppose its a fun enough tune but its not what I would find true to form.    I think after a few more listens I might appreciate this more but after the glory of "There Goes The Ice", I wish this wasn't on the same download.

Oh well, 50% ain't bad
