The Annenberg Space for Photography will present this summer an interesting exhibit entitled ‘Who Shot Rock & Roll: A Photographic History 1955 to the Present’, a major event focusing on ‘the creative and collaborative role that photographers played in the history of rock music’.
An original documentary film, produced for the Annenberg Space for Photography, and shot in Los Angeles, New York and England, will also be screened and will feature new photos, interviews and behind the scenes footage with photographers Ed Colver, Henry Diltz, Jill Furmanovsky, Lynn Goldsmith, Bob Gruen, Norman Seeff, Mark Seliger and Guy Webster, as well as appearance by Alice Cooper, Henry Rollins, rock photo collector Michael Ochs among others.
All together, 166 prints from famous photographers such as Amy Arbus, Diane Arbus, Roberta Bayley, Stephanie Chernikowski, Danny Clinch, Ed Colver, Anton Corbijn, Henry Diltz, Jill Furmanovsky, Godlis, Lynn Goldsmith, Jean-Paul Goude, Bob Gruen, Ross Halfin, Dennis Hopper, Richard Kern, David LaChapelle, Michael Lavine, Annie Leibovitz, Laura Levine, Gered Mankowitz, Jim Marshall, Ryan McGinley, Marcia Resnick, Stephane Sednaoui, Norman Seeff, Mark Seliger, Pennie Smith, Storm Thorgerson, Albert Watson, Guy Webster, will be in view, as well as slideshow of pictures by Henry Diltz taken between 1966-1990, and music videos of Sonic Youth (‘Death Valley ’69’ by Judith Barry and Richard Kern), U2 (‘One’ and ‘Electrical Storm’ by Anton Corbijn), Grace Jones (‘One Man Show’ by Jean-Paul Goude), The Vines (‘Outtathaway’ by David LaChapelle), Björk (‘Big Time Sensuality’ by Stéphane Sednaoui), Elvis Presley (‘Heartbreak Hotel’ from the TV program, ‘Stage Show’). Really a lot to see!
