Jimmy Page Upset About Not Being Invited By the Olympic Games Organizers

The Olympic Games in London are coming up and the whole English population must be really excited, except Jimmy Page: The Led Zeppelin guitarist explained why to the Daily Telegraph

Of course, I'm feeling rather hurt. We put so much into Beijing, but weren’t helped by the Chinese giving us next-to-no practice time.’

He actually helped promote the London games at the closing ceremony in Beijing 2008, by performing Zeppelin’s hit ‘Whole Lotta Love’, but was not invited to perform during the London 2012 Olympics, which have nevertheless scheduled tow huge outdoor concerts in Hyde Park. Duran Duran, Paolo Nutini, Stereophonics and Snow Patrol will perform instead, whereas Blur will headline a show with New Order, the Specials to celebrate the end of the games.

What can we say? But Jimmy Page should not be upset since, as rock nyc's Helen Bach reported, the Olympics organizers asked whether Keith Moon would be able to take part of the celebration, as Roger Daltrey explained in an interview:

It could only happen in Britain. We are so organized. We got a letter – well, an email – requesting could Keith Moon attend the opening ceremony.

Let’s just remind everyone that Moon died in 1978,… talk about not being in touch with reality!
