The Record Company At The Silverlake Jubilee, Saturday May 26th 2012

Unfortunately, Fidlar canceled their appearance at the Silverlake Jubilee, the singer got the flu I have heard, and the Record Company took their spot on the Sunset Stage at the last minute; it was not an easy task to do obviously, but they totally succeeded.

Chris Vos, on vocals and guitars (and sometimes lap steel) started the set sitting down with a few a cappella lines before letting the music explode into a loud bluesy stomping number,… think mean B.B. King, mad muddy Mississippi rock-blues, trucker music for the open-fields or infinitely straight roads of the west, and you may get the idea. The tunes were getting louder and louder, or were playing on a more country side at times, and Vos was explaining, while tuning his guitar, that he was from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and had moved to Los Angeles two years ago; a big move, but probably a good move, as he was there with his two band members, Alex Wood on bass and vocals, and Marc Cazorla on drums, playing the Jubilee!

He was talking with a sincere bonhomie, admitting he was ‘freaked out’ to replace a popular band like this, he was also joking about this guitar strap detaching itself several times, but he certainly had nothing to worry about.

I really appreciate, since probably 99% of you have never heard of us’, he said when people were clapping after a song.

Playing with a rare natural and conviction, he was now on the pedal steel, playing more of his mean blues for the foot-tapping crowd's pleasure. He also invited us to the bar down the street where the band was playing a little later on,… a busy day for The Record Company!
