Beck To Release A Single On Jack White's Third Man Records On May 28th

I saw Beck a few days ago, but he didn’t play any new song! Only old classics to everyone’s delight, and this was completely all right with me as I hadn’t seen him for a long time.

However, according to Rolling Stone, Beck has just announced he will release very soon a limited edition single on Jack White’s Third Man Records label!

Entitled ‘I just Started Hating Some People Today’/’Blue Randy’, the single will be released on May 28 as a colored 7’ vinyl records, and 100 tri-color versions of it will be exclusively on sale at Randy’s Records in Salt Lake City on June 2. Why Salt Lake City? Out of all the places? Of course digital versions of the songs will also be available on iTunes.

Beck recorded them last year at Jack White’s studio in Nashville while he was there to record his forthcoming album says Rolling Stone,… so there is an upcoming album, and already recorded? And he didn’t play any of it at the El Rey on Tuesday? Beck will always be a mystery to me.

You can actually listen to short clips of the songs on Third Man Records, and the least I can say is that ‘I just Started Hating Some People Today’ sounds damn pure hillbilly country and that Beck hardly sings on ’Blue Randy’ but takes the smoky-whiskey voice of an old cowboy. Has he completely turned country?
