Zooey Deschanel To Play in Broadway musical based on Loretta Lynn's life

It’s certainly better for a musician when the actor who is going to play your life is chosen when you are still alive. At least you can pick up the person yourself rather than letting the family, the estate, the producers and filmmakers battling each other over your dead corpse. Zooey Deschanel is going to play in the Broadway musical adaptation of the classic 1980 movie ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter’, which was based on Loretta Lynn’s life.

Zooey is that wide-eyed-cute-face wearing pretty dresses, and Loretta Lynn, at the same age, was that big-hair-brown-eyes-hot-babe, although more Xena warrior princess than Disney princess. But Zooey can sing, she is in that band She & Him, and last Thursday, she joined Loretta Lynn on stage at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, to precisely sing ‘Coal Miner’s Daughter’.

Lynn made the big announcement on stage, she said that Zooey was the chosen one!

Zooey declared to People magazine: ‘Loretta Lynn and her music have been inspirations for me for as long as I can remember. She is a true legend and to be chosen to play such an iconic woman is a dream come true’, to what Loretta added ‘I know Zooey is going to be great – she sings and writes her own songs just like I do, and we even have the same color eyes!’

Awww, is there such a word as womance?
