Demi Lovato Earning Respect

Anyone over age 30 thinks that kids have got it made.  We look back on those days as ‘the best days of our lives’ and actually have the nerve to tell the youth they don’t know how good they have it. Truth is if your 40 years old its simple to handle problems of a 15 year old- cuz you have life experience (hopefully) and acquired problem solving skills.  As a teenager you have no clue what you’re doing, your body Is freaking out and your teachers, parents and peers are scaring the fuck out of you to be ‘normal’ when you don’t even know what normal is.

Mental disorders are no less serious than physical disorders, in fact, they can be interchangeable as pop star Demi Lovato bravely battled an eating disorder and self harming finally seeking help in 2010. The best part about this stint in rehab is she has not dwelled on it or used it as a soapbox, she shoots from the hip spreading positifvity and has become a role model to many.

She is just now sharing her new found ‘respect’ from those who doubted she could handle fame after rehab.

Demi Lovato "gained respect" from people who warned her she might struggle with fame after entering rehab.

"There was a lot of embarrassment and a lot of shame. When I went into rehab I felt like a failure and I felt, for everybody telling me growing up 'You're going to be successful, but don't turn out like that one girl,' I felt like I'd turned into that 'one girl'. I felt like I'd proved everybody right," she said in an interview with the BBC.

"I just let a lot of people down, but I realized that by getting help, I wasn't letting anybody down, I was actually gaining respect from a lot of people because making that decision was very hard but it ultimately changed my life."

She’s getting notoriety and positive feedback from her nay sayers and wranglers

"I notice people do treat me differently. People I work with, they're more cautious of the workload I have. I feel like I'm almost being treated more of a human being now, because before it was so easy to be treated like a product, or someone who wasn't capable of working 17 hours a day," she explained.

That girl deserves all the recognition she gets, and hopefully will continue to handle the challenges that await her with inner strength. (Editors Note: Her last album was awful)
