If it is true what does it mean about her? Several websites are reporting that Lana Del Rey will either appear on American Idol on Thursday night, or is pre-taping a performance for a later appearance in the singing contest show.
Mjsbigblog is saying that Del Rey’s name is listed on the audience American Idol tickets along with Daughtry and Demi Lovato who are scheduled to perform, although it has not been officially confirmed.
After all the critics she received for her infamous SNL performance, she is doing it again? Of course, if it is a pre-taped performance, it is not exactly live. But I have never watched American Idol, and singers may well be lip-synching all the songs anyway.
Can you tell me why Del Rey is sold everywhere as indie? She appears as a revamped, I-play-the-small-places singer (she had gigs at Amoeba and the Troubadour here!) while she is on the big Interscope label, is prepared for a second national TV exposure, and thus ready for a mainstream image after this new appearance.
She claimed to be authentic (I read this in an interview) but she is also choosing to appear in the phoniest show that exists, a singing contest made to sedate people in front of their TV screen while hijacking pop culture, a phony dream sold to the masses created by vicious tyrants who take delight to humiliate delusional people running after a fake dream,… bad move Lana!
