What the hell? Dee Snider has lost his mind.
Dee is releasing an album in which he slaughters all that is good about Broadway. Giving us his renditions of the classic songs we came to love.
The new album features several guest, including Bebe Neuwirth on the 'Damn Yankees' song 'Whatever Lola Wants,' Patti LuPone on a 'West Side Story' medley 'Tonight/Somewhere,' Cyndi Lauper on 'Sweet Charity's 'Big Spender,' Clay Aiken on the 'Guys and Dolls' classic 'Luck Be a Lady Tonight,' Mark Wood of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra playing violin on the 'Phantom of the Opera' ballad 'Music Of The Night,' as well a special rendition of 'The Joint Is Jumpin' from 'Ain't Misbehavin'' with Dee's oldest son, Jesse "Blaze" Snider. "Blaze".. ha!
This will be legend. People will love it- it's actually a cool idea if it werent Sniders voice. I mean get some reall rock legends to make over some standards and youre talkin- Dee is a twisted mess.
'Dee Does Broadway' will coincide with the release of his first ever autobiography, 'Shut Up and Give Me the Mic' on May 8.
If you would like to hear what he has done to 'Cabaret' it is available on Soundcloud. I can tell you there are times in the tune when he sounds like a Disney character and the guitar solo is ear bleedingly bad.
Dim the Great White Way.
