Look forward to an exclusive 7' of two Russian cover songs, 'The Prayer Of François Villon (Molitva)' and 'Old Jacket (Stariy Pedjak),' for Record Store Day on April 21. That’s a pretty sweet offering. It has been so long since there has been new material.
There is more Spektor news though, a new album due out later this Spring. “What we Saw From The Cheap Seats”, is the title to be released on Sire/Warner Bros. I have always been a fan of Regina. She has an eerie presence. Never really a pop sensation and for that I am glad. She has remained true to her sound, unswayed by current trends.
What is interesting is the tour that will follow this albums release. As opener for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. Odd combination don’t you think? I can’t really see that crowd intermingling, All I can say is I hope that the Petty fans are kind to her… wait, are there any Petty fans? No North East Dates as of yet.. but I’m patient and maybe she will be solo!
