Garth Brooks is getting his cash back. A $500, 000.00 donation is on its way right back to him compliments of a jury of his peers.
Seems Brooks was under the impression that a woman's health center would be named after his mother Colleen who died of cancer years ago.
Hospital representatives at Integris Canadian Valley Regional Hospital in Yukon, say the money was not designated with any 'strings'.
On the contrary, Brooks said in an Oklahoma court that the hospital originally wanted a trauma unit named after his mother, which he felt was inappropriate. When staff suggested the woman's health center he is quoted as:
“I jumped all over it,” Brooks told jurors in tearful testimony. “It’s my mom. My mom was pregnant as a teenager. She had a rough start. She wanted to help every kid out there.”
Well, it didn't happen. So rather than make nice he has asked for the cash back. I can understand misrepresentation but is it ok to take back a donation? Surely they could have come to compromise.
