There was a lot of noise on Friday morning coming from the Arcade Fire camp, and about a new video for their song 'Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)’.
But, as usual for Arcade Fire, you get a little bit more than you are expecting, because, after all, they are the coolest and indiest band ever.
The band and director Vincent Morisset made an interactive version of the video, which allows you to control the movements of the characters with the help of your computer camera. This is how they explain it:
‘With the help of your camera, you will influence the pacing of the video with your movements. There are no specific moves, just dance with your hands. The camera will detect the movement you are making. The crazier you get, the faster the video will go. If you stop, the action will be suspended and looped. Be sure that you are in front of the camera, that there is enough light in the room and no external movement in the background. Pump up the volume!
You can also interact with your mouse by clicking anywhere in the video, you’ll suspend or loop a specific moment in time. By clicking again, you’ll toggle back to the normal playback. By dragging the video to the left or right, you’ll flip through the frames. Have fun!’
Ok I tried, but was not that good at it, it was not getting anywhere, and honestly the regular version was way better than these awkward looped moves, but I am not from the video-game generation, and kids will love it.
So if you want to play with adorable-looking Regine, in a video which won’t even let you see Will’s face, go there:
or just watch the regular video below
