Sherlock Holmes And The Game Of Shadows Reviewed (More Or Less)

Gut Ritchie's attempt to repeat his success with the first reboot of the Sherlock Holmes series is mostly a success, if you don't give a toss about Sherlock Holmes. As always, the deductions are lame, the story is lame, Robert Downey Jr. maybe playing someone but it sure ain't Sherlock Holmes and Jude Law ain't much as Doctor Watson.

With that out of the way, this action romp through 19th century Europe full of slo mo and super fast action is as good a way to kill a couple of hours while waiting to see Swedish House Mafia as any. Dr. Moriarty has a dastarly plan. He is gonna buy up all the arms manufacturors and then cause a war between France Aand Germany. A bit of a waste of effort, in the 19th century all Germany and France did was go to war. He kills off Holmes love interest,  Holmes throws Watsons wife in a river and off the latent couple goes to save the world.

Musically, there isn't that much going on. One scene occurs during a production of  Mozart's Don Giovann -begging an answer to the question, why do supervillains love opera? iHere and there the score gets topical, an occasional waltz.

Movie: B-

Music: C+ (not enough Mozart)
