New LA Artists Could Get Grammy Nomination

The LA Times has an article about the possible Grammy nominations for emerging LA bands, and it looks interesting and totally diverse. These are some of their candidates for the best success stories:

• Foster the People: They definitely went big because of their can-get-that-tune-out-of-my-head ‘Pumped Up Kicks’, which sold over 3.3 million downloads, but I am not sure of what else they have to offer as I have never seen them live. They started so small here, with some shows at the Echo nightclub, and boom, suddenly they could get a Grammy!

• The Belle Brigade: I have seen them several times and they are very good, so dynamic and entertaining on stage, with catchy songs and a very loyal following. It could happen!

• Fitz & the Tantrums: We have to say it very loud, we talked about them first!! With their R&B-organ-Motown-revival, they are the real local success, growing big with their non-stop touring during this last year,… it would be very cool!

• Tyler the Creator: Sure… with his solo full length album ‘Goblin’, he has to be the best new artist,… or is a line like ‘I'll crash that fucking airplane that that faggot nigga B.o.B is in/And stab Bruno Mars in his goddamn esophagus’ too risky and too disturbing for the Grammy? Wait, will Bruno Mars be nominated too?
