If you are into these kinds of things, you may think that Spinal Tab’s Nigel Tufnel Day, or if you prefer 11/11/11 was the perfect date for a Black Sabbath revelation. But, as Helen said it a few days ago, it was expected, the four original musicians Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward have announced that there are reuniting and have even plans to make a new album produced by Rick Rubin in 2012.
They held a late morning press conference at the Whiskey A Go-Go club on the Sunset strip in Los Angeles, a place where they had their very first show, day for day, 41 years ago. After an introduction by the omnipresent ‘press liaison’ Henry Rollins (is Black Sabbath really the soundtrack of Rollins’ life or was he schmoozing a little?) they took questions from Rollins and the media. Ozzy said it was just time and the right thing to do… really? I don’t get the moral argument in all this.
Anyway, Black Sabbath will also headline the UK Download festival on June 10th, and will embark in a worldwide arena tour to support the new album.
