new documentary about George Harrison directed by Martin Scorsese

According to the LA Times, a documentary about George Harrison directed by Martin Scorsese is almost done and will be released this year.

Last Thursday, Olivia Harrison, who was attending the 5th anniversary performance of that Beatles-Cirque-du-Soleil thing in Las Vegas, declared:

‘I assume we’re going to announce it sometime soon, the actual [premiere] date, but it will be this year, I just came from New York and Monday I’m going to see it again.’
‘We’re real excited about it. Marty is such a great storyteller, and of course he always finds the story that you don’t expect.’

‘Living in the Material World: George Harrison’ will be added to a list of music documentaries directed by Scorsese, an apparent passion of his, since he had already directed ‘The Last Waltz’ in 1978, a concert-documentary about the end of The Band’s career, ‘No Direction Home’ in 2005, a film about Bob Dylan’s life, and ‘Shine a Light’ in 2008 documenting The Rolling Stones' 2006 Beacon Theatre performance.

According to the collider.com, Scorsese, who has been fascinated by Harrison’s spiritual journey, got exclusive access to the musician’s materials, like never-been-seen-by-the-public notes, cassette tapes, photos, and footages, and got to talk to Harrison’s closest friends, including Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Eric Idle, Tom Petty, Yoko Ono, and Phil Spector.
