"Let's Win" Video from Alex (aka Edward Sharpe) Reviewed

Alex Ebert goes completely political for his new video ‘Let’s Win’, a song from his Alexander solo album. If his fiction character and his band (Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros) have been accused of being some late hippies more than once, this time there is a very good reason to do so!

In case you have never heard of climate activist Tim DeChristopher, he is someone who opposed the Bush administration by entering an auction to save public land being taken over by a federal auction, which would have given away the drilling rights to gas and oil companies. Registered as Bidder 70, he intended to pay none of the money he had bid and was prosecuted and convicted of disrupting the federal auction.

The video shows Ebert singing his folk and uplifting song whilst peaceful rallies are happening in support of DeChristopher during his trial in February in Utah.

His sentencing is scheduled for June 23rd and he is facing up to 10 years in prison and a $750,000 fine.

This video reminds me the 60s, when songs and music could still be powerful and used for a noble cause,… nobody does this anymore!
