The 1975 'rock opera' Tommy was the story of Tommy Walker a deaf dumb and blind kid who sure played a mean pinball. In this drug hazed production we hear songs of war and love and abuse and a boat load of other human society weakness.
So tell me why would you want to see a 64 year old man singing 'see me feel me touch me'? Personally it makes me want to puke. Grandpa get off the stage
We are forced yet again to look face to face with our literally senior citizen and the ravages of time. Its a reoccurring nightmare I'm having as the 'legends of rock' slap on their tight pants and try to pretend that they are still 25. Why would an artist want to tarnish their image in such a way. We are all well aware of the artists who collapse on stage or otherwise humiliate themselves just for that 'One More Time" thrill. Please rock community just stop.
I often hear people saying how excited they are to go see The Stones or Aerosmith or Robert Plant or any other 70s legend. It is 2011, you're not going to see the same person you hear on the recording. You're going to be face to face, wait let me correct that. You're going to be in $200. seats so far away that you're not going to see the etched wrinkles or Botox plump. I honestly believe its similar to seeing a totally different artist.
Visit me now and you're not visiting the same girl you may have met in '82.
Look I'm really sorry you missed the 'good old days', so hang up your pot leaf black light posters and pretend its '72 but its not. Roger for the love of God don't do it. Steven Tyler is falling of the stage and all the troupes' and its just a hot mess. We cant die young and stay pretty, but we can age with grace.
Get off the fucking stage.
