1 – Hopped Up – The Pagans – Still waiting for its official release, this is a Stonesy meets punk workout with a great groove and a Stiv Bators via Mike Hudson (who is indeed the lead singer) vocal, all snarl and drugs, Richard Duguay’s guitar is fluid and fast and first rate. If Hollywood High was art rock by other means, “Hopped Up” is 70s punk by professional hit men – A
2 – Love Is Overdue – Gregory Isaacs – The terrific “Night Nurse” man, gone and never forgotten, on a forgotten classic – A
3 – Life Like This – Kurt Vile – Major song promises well for the next album – A-
4 – I Was Doing Fine (Then A Few People Died) – Craig Finn – The veneer of optimism is rooted as much in the sound as the story – A
5 – Rum Is The Reason – Toby Keith – Excellent Jimmy Buffett rip – B+
6 – Music To Watch Boys By – Lana Del Rey – Since I got “High On The Beach” so wrong, I am going to up it a full grade to – B-
7 – Why Would I Now – The Decemberists – How fast can one band runaway from the Americana label? This is a good rock ballad, understated and graceful… nice one – B+
8 – Everytime I’m With You – Seal – Waiting for the duet with John Legend being licensed to “Ambient” – D
9 – The BJ Song – “I wanna make you feel good but only if it doesn’t take too long…” – A
10 – Today’s The Day – P!nk – Ellen degeneres new theme song, I might have a stronger opinion if I knew the old one – C+
