They cancelled the Sunday performance, but if they move the great Marvin Sapp from Sunday to Saturday then your headliners will be Cece Winans and Marvin Sapp and while you are missing a handful of big names (CeCe’s brother for one), if you have any interest at all in Gospel this is a big gig.
My problem is exactly what you think it is: I can live with it in song but the Preachers proselytizing, which comes with the territory by definition, that I have sincere problems with: it bores me to tears. Plus, it is a little voyeuristic. In Shakespeare’s words, I feel as though maybe I’ve come to “Scorn at their solemnity” though the truth is I’m there for the voices if nothing else.
PS if the Empowerment Summit wanna figure out why they have problem selling out they should check out their prices. When they play SummerStage you can’t move for the people.
Here is the line up unless they move some people from the Sunday cancel, note Tasha Cobbs who has a lousy new album out but might improve live:
“Day of Praise, Night of Worship – September 5, 2015 @ 2pm:
Bishop Noel Jones, Bishop Roderick Caesar, Rev. Dr. Elaine Flake, CeCe Winans, Tye Tribbett, Tasha Cobbs, Martha Munizzi, Travis Green, Kevin Downswell, Uche Agu, Round Table “Leadership”, Praise Dancefest Finals”.
