1 – Suede – NxWorries – This has been out since February but completely new to me and let me tell you, I missed it then but not this beautiful soul song featuring next years The Weeknd, Anderson Paak. One of the best songs of the year – A
2 – Dress You Up – Madonna – This is the sort of perfect intro so hard and yet easy, a drum roll, a bass lick, a synth and an acoustic guitar and the song hasn’t started yet – A
3 – Material Girl – Madonna – Madonna’s greatest moment bar none? This is it, a perfect pop confection and a capitalist manifesto with a twist in its tail – A+
4 – Like A Virgin – Madonna – This made her a superstar, she is where she is because of this – A+
5 – Portions For Foxes – Rilo Kiley – Remember when these guys were god? I think we’re ready for 00s nostalgia – A
6 – All In A Day’s Work – Dr. Dre – Anderson Paak – That’s Jimmy Iovine with the pep talk but if yiu can get past him you get Paak – B+
7 – Issues – Dr. Dre – With Ice Cube on the track, you’d imagine it would be a lot more like NWA. Ice Cube and Paak both get their verses, Dre? Not so much – B
8 – Animals – Dr Dre – This is the absolute masterpiece off Compton -a jaudiced eye turned to the media’s portrayal of black people during times of unrest. Paak’s finest moment – A
9 – Medicine Man – Dr Dre – I love eminem’s rap but not enough to save us from the lousy hook – C-
10 Fingerprints – Bon Jovi -This is… I don’t know what to say… – D
