– Mountain At My Gate – Foals – The honest voice of alt rock from the UK, sound the way Elbow might if they were less ambitious and also sound the way you hope rockers might with a rush at the end that storms both the mountain and the gate – B+
– Stay Young, Get Stoned – White Seas – Great piece of advice, but the song misses on the hardsell – B-
– We Try But We Don’t Fit In – Day Wave – Dreamscape poppers – B-
– Happy Days are Here Again!” – Ben Selvin and the Crooners – From 1930, and helped FDR get elected, though the Great Depression would soon be over, happiness had a little ways to go. It bounces and soars. I am just glad U2 weren’t alive at the time – B+
– 9 Shots – 50 Cent – bang bang shoot shoot bullet by bullet story as an extended love metaphor. Hey, different while not being particularly good or really bad – C+
– Another Love Song – Leona Lewis – Bland as hell but so what, it could break pop – C+
– Two Black Cadillacs – Carrie Underwood – Awful country slog – C-
– I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times) – Jamie xx – Better than your average electronic soul but then what? It doesn’t do much – B-
– Ryderz – Hudson Hawke – I don’t listen to this album enough, every time I put it on , I am happy did, definitely better than Jamie xx’s efforts in a similar vein – A
– Ship To Wreck – Florence + The Machine – One great song does not a great album make but it does make a great song – A-
