– Murder In The City – Brandi Carlisle – I prefer her album to Kacey Musgraves, and this deep song about a brothers love for his sister is very moving and very lovely, “don’t go revenging in my name”, Brandi’s brother tells, the bands unbreakable. Her father says, “I love you and I’m proud of you both in so many different ways” – A

– Murder In The City – The Avett Brothers – I came to this after but it makes even more sense (except for the arms bit) between brothers – A-

– Cardinals – The Wonder Years – A big death song – B

– Double Trouble – Public Image Ltd –  Interesting little dance art rocker though it skirts self parody, nice bass hook – B

– Darlin’ – The Beach Boys – Great song about the redeeming power of love – A

– Good Vibrations – The Beach Boy – Their shining moment, worth remembering that Mike Love wrote the lyric – A+

– Post To Be – Omarion – Hugely catchy song, if I hadn’t missed it it would have hit my best of 2014.

– Gorgeous – X Ambassadors – Catchy but in a bad way, big and modern – C-

– Things To DO In Denver When You’re Dead – Warren Zevon – His huge marching song towards oblivion – A

– Just Another Night – Low grade Stones, why write a song when a riff will do – C+
