Have you ever wanted to wear something that has belonged to your favorite musician? I bet 90% of you have dreamt about it, just seeing how fast people jump on stage to get the setlist or the drum sticks after a show.
Wear your music is a very smart website that allows you to buy jewelry made of guitar strings and other artifacts that have belonged to musicians. The beauty of it ? 100% of net profits go to charities chosen by musicians.
You can choose between rock recycled bangles described as ‘Handmade one-of-a-kind bangle style bracelets crafted from used & recycled guitar strings and packaged in a paper string envelope’, one-size-fits-all, classic guitar string bracelet made from REAL guitar strings, which will bend and shape to suit any wrist, or another kind, made from REAL bass strings!
They also offer charms, keychains, earrings and rings all made with strings, but of course the best part of the website concerns bracelets made from used guitar strings donated by acclaimed musicians.
In this case, prices are a bit higher, but as I said, it is all for good causes.
They don’t have a stock for everybody though, some musicians are either too hot or haven’t donated enough strings, but you can choose among hundreds of them and prices vary accordingly:
Ben Folds? out of stock at the moment), but $150 for a piano string bracelet and proceed go to Reverb, a music and environment charity.
Eric Clapton? You are in luck it’s on stock, and the bracelet made from his famous guitar strings with cost you $250 or up, and proceeds donated to Crossroads Antigua, a drug rehab program located in the Caribbean island of course.
Joan Baez? Also in stock for $100 with proceeds donated to the Resource Center for Nonviolence.
Joan Jett? $100 but out of stock for the moment with proceeds donated PETA.
It’s funny how charities reflect the musician’s personality. I could go on and on, but I will let to check this out by yourself. Whose strings would you be wearing?
