1 – Steady with Maestro – The Roches – off one of the best albums of the early 1980s, the sisters perform three piece harmonies on a gently song about sleeping with your boss. The album, Keep On Doing, made them superstars round our way and this is maybe the fourth best song on the album – A
2 – Nobody’s Empire – Belle And Sebastian – Stuart said it was about suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome, here is a child, I bed, clinging on to life… but better than that sounds – A-
3 -Shout Out – Cousin Shi – Loving the drugs and hooking in everybody – A
4 -5:15 – Pete Townshend – A coupla years ago, I wrote how Pete was probably trying to work Quadrophenia into the official opera canon. This is the Royal Philharmonic. Afie Boe sings the fuck out of it – A-
5 – Bell Boy – Billy Idol – Playing Keith Moon’s part – B+
6 – Why – Kevin Jenkins – This doesn’t soar, it settles, like something at rest butt not at peace – A-
7 – Eventually – Tame impala – Alyson’s faves are in the ascendency here on the East Coast, this new one is a dramatic track – B+
8 – Fatal Flaw – Titus Andronicus – Patrick’s best song since “…And Ever”, five years ago – A
9 – Round Are Way – Oasis – Debatably their greatest moment, it is the only time they took a Beatle concept, a “Penny Lane”-ish childhood, and made it entirely their own- A+
10 – A New day For Love – Neil Young, Promise Of The Real – Plod rock – C-
