Sports: Sepp Blatter stepped down as President of the Football Association FIFA amid allegations of huge corruption, kickbacks, bribery, you know, like Albany only for sports. Incidentally, if FIFA had given the US the next world cup instead of Qatar, I wouldn’t if the US would’ve pursued the corruption charges quite as vigorously?

Recorded: Florence + The Machine and Algiers have taken over my life, with Algiers a really cool surprise. Algiers are the US answer to Young Fathers, a Gospel vocal over deep brooding beats and licks.

Live: Mumford And Sons back for day two in Brooklyn, Purity Rings at T5, Ash at Rough Trade, Refused at Bowery Ballroom, The Tallest Man On Earth at Beacon, Wire at MHOW, Ian Hunter at City Winery and Chaka Khan at Prospect Park. Just another night in the city that never sleeps… hope it doesn’t rain for Chaka.

News: The new  USA Freedom Act, just passed by Congress, puts an end to the onerous Patriot Act, which gave the Government the records of every phone call made by Americans. Now the telephone records are held by the phone companies and the Government has to request access.
