– Always In My Head – Coldplay – When they write the book on great divorce albums, Coldplay won’t be in the top three, behind Dylan and Gaye, but that doesn’t make this understated song, a poorly articulated but haunting track, might get a footnote – B+
– John Wayne Gacy Jn – Sufjan Stevens – The greatest song ever written about a serial killer…. by far – A+
– You Are In Love – Taylor Swift – Her best ballad on the new album, a dream of true love – A
– Baltimore – Prince – The first verse moves it from good to great – A
– I Won’t Mind – Zayn Malik – The Pakistani superstar with a great producer on this glorious lo fi song. They should have rush released it – A
– Wolf – Kanye West – His best song off the new album (so far) hasn’t actually dropped yet, Sia has never been put to better use – A
– Pretty Girls – Britney Spears And Iggy Azalea – Not bad pop confection, I am surprised it didn’t hit bigger. That drum roll is all hook – B
– Ain’t It Fun – Paramore – Not my fave but a catchy smash hit – B+
– Baby Don’t Lie – Gwen Stefani – 25M streams, so it isn’t the disaster I thought it was. But it ain’t much, it misses the crossover to a pure pop forum – B
– Bubble Pop Electric – Gwen Stefani – In which Gwen manages the crossover from dance to pop that has failed her this decade and Johnny Vulture takes her on a ride – A
