– Where It’s At – Shit Robot – A long time favorite DJ of mine meets a human beat box Reggie Watts without a nice old fashioned meets new EDM vocal, it works for me very well: it has a roiling bluesiness and high intensity yield a polar opposite of Avicii – B+

– Can’t You Hear Me Knocking – The Rolling Stones – This is better than the Sticky Fingers version, Taylor’s guiltar solo is filthy and Mick sounds even more urgent – A

– Another Girl – The Beatles – McCartney’s flow here is almost rap fine, it is like a body of water, all smoothness and smarts -A

– My Sad Captains – Elbow – Their perfect song with a perfect punchline: “what a perfect waste of time” – A

– Singer-Songwriter – The Young Novelists – This has the ring of truth and more, it has the ring of voyeurism. I wish I knew who the girl was – A

– There’s No One Crying Over Me Either – American wrestler – This is one of a couple of very big songs for me right now, a great sentiment and a pained and lovely statement – A-

– Autopilot Mode – Millencolin – Get it? They don’t sound melancholic, they sound like an Irish rock band – B+

– A More Perfect Union – Titus Andronicus – You know, however much I loved Patrick circa 2010, I still didn’t realize he wouldn’t be able to do it forever – A+

– …And Ever – Titus Andronicus – Quite possibly the truest, hardest rocking and just plain brilliant song ever written – A+

– Gemini – Alabama Shakes – Mood music, downbeat, lovely slow, dazed blues – A
