1 – It’s Alright Ma (I’m Only Bleeding) – Bob Dylan – When people claim rock music has been going downhill since the mid 60s, they could easily show this as exhibit # 1. It is not that there is a line here and there which makes sense in the grand scheme of life, it is that some of these aphorisms are now cliches – A+
2 – The Battle Of Hampton Road – Titus Andronicus – A huge song, a time traveling master work, with the greatest kiss off “I’m going back to new Jersey, I do beluieve they’d had enough of me” – A+
3 – Train Under Water – Bright Eyes – Still goddamn makes me cry – A+
4 – Sheraton Gibson – Pete Townshend – In which Cleveland blows his mind – A
5 – Misunderstood – Pete Townshend – In which even Pete has his daydreams – A
6 – Looks Like Rain – Passion Pit – This is good, but the Spotify version is better – B+
7 – Strangers In The Night – Frank And Nancy Sinatra – A great song hurt by undertows of incest – A-
8 – Hold My Hand – Jess Glynnne – A terrific song, I think it has just enetred the US charts, where it should live for a long long time – A-
9 – John Wayne Gacy Jr – Sufjan Stevens – One of his masterpieces, it grows in depth and sorrow every time I hear it – A
10 – Should Have Known Better – Sufjan Stevens – His masterpiece goes in deeper and deeper. A wonderful album and a great performer – A
