The second most anticipated concert of the year, right after D’Angelo, is this killer reunion: the all girl masters Sleater Kinney. I followed em through much of their career (I got bored circa The Woods), and saw both Wild flag and the Corin Tucker Backer (the latter at Mercury Lounge where Tucker sold her own tee shirts) and I love the new album and always loved them live. So I am more than excited to catch em on Thursday (they are also playing Friday). Yes, even at Terminal Five.
Monday – Jose Feliciano – Iridium – The gifted and soulful acoustic guitarists, remember his “Light My Fire”?, is always a pleasure.
Monday – Lauryn Hill – Highline Ballroom – Solo acoustic, could be good…
Wednesday – Ariel Pink – Terminal 5 – The popular weirdo might be worth viewing.
Wednesday – JD McPherson _ Modernr ockabilly purveryor, wish he had more songs as good as “Northside Gal” but he has enough
Thursday – Swans – The noise merchants have had a second career and the sound is something to be heard and the more you hear the more your eardrums bust.
Thursday – Midge Ure – Iridium – With Steve Strange’s recent death, his Visage band mate, Midge Ure, has good reason to really dip into his 1980s Visage and Ultravox days. catalog
