Let The Good Times Roll – J.D. McPherson – I have nothing against J.D., indeed I’d claim quite the opposite, I think it is sweet to have a real good rockabilly guy on the scene and I like this song, love the lick, but the song title? It didn’t work for the Cars and it doesn’t work here. The competition is too heavy- B

Love After Love – Jeffre Cantu-Ledesman – The purest of ambient music, this is what they mean when they say deep background – B

Blackbird – Gretchen Peters – Apparently she’s sincere – C+

Riptide -Blacklisted – It is kinda silly to note how formulaic this hardcore track is, it is meant to be, and believe it or not it is all about the nuance. There are better screamers none as tuneful – B

Bulletproof – Adolescents – Apparently they are teaming up with Kanye next – B

If I Go – Ella Eyre – One of the best singers coming out of the UK, she was terrific a coupla years ago at Summerstage, even if less so New Year’s Eve at MSG. This is fine electronic soul – B

Can’t Wait For The Weekend – Love And Theft – Too poppy for some tastes, it sure works for me. I bet it kills live  – B

Take Ova – Lil Snupe – I love this kids voice, the album improves on listening and the Tupac line is too prescient for comfort – A-

Dangerous – Rumer – Man, I hope nobody at Motown sues her!- B+

To My Girl – Trent Dabbs – Is he being sincere? well, over the top uxorious – B
