– Shoplifting John Peel Sessions – The Slits – To say they don’t make songs like this first recording by the fantastic early punk all girl band the slits is not to say they really should do. It makes you miss Ari Upp all the more and reading Viv Albertine’s autobiography, it is amazing how hard they had to fight with men in the industry to get heard the way she wanted to be heard. Not John Peel, the engineers – A
– The Legend Of Chavo Guerrero – The Mountain Goats – The moral? Justice is sweet and so is growing old – B+
– High Ball Stepper – Jack white – It took a live showing for me to properly hear this, a great instrumental – A-
– Ain’t That Easy – D’Angelo – OK, this will help, try it with headphones – B+
– Rebel Yell – Billy Idol – about nailing a Georgia peach- A
– Just Like Summertime – Charlie wilson – The problem with soul is the songs, ever since Babyface, ever since the mid-80s, they haven’t had the same class of songs. Other stuff, beats for instance, are even better – B
– Heavy Rescue – Doomtree – Every ingle song I’ve heard on this album is memorable, love both the two rappers here and sample is a form of magic. Another good song om a certainly superior album – B+
– Fourfiveseconds – Rihanna, Kanye West, Paul McCartney – This is a major minor track, if it hits and remains on the charms it will sound a lot better. The song isn’t quite right, it is close but it misses. PS? It was written by West, McCartney, Kirby Lauryen, Mike Dean, Ty Dolla Sign, Dave Longstreth, Dallas Austin, Elon Rutberg, and Noah Goldstein… did they each take a second each? – B+
– Love Interruption – Jack White _ I don’t see how any one dpoesn’t get off on this, one of his great moments – A
– Until She Doesn’t – Corey Dargel – I went looking for two songs to love but only found one and this ain’t it – C
