– Bad Place For A Good Time – Kate Tempest – This is how you rap to a metronome, like dancing between raindrops, and this is what you rap about not just “be like a tree” but more importantly “find something sacred in all of this silence”. That’s the sort of truth we can all use – A
– Black Ember – Ascension – this is pretty wild, it’s like WW2 with howitzers bombing the hell of the guitars from above – B
– The Tide – The Dodos – Melodic yet obtuse indie pop with smart tempo and almost ideological shifts – B+
– False Hope – Laura Marling – Laura on Hurricane Sandy with a full rock band – B+
– Final Boss – Doomtree – Nice flow but the voice isn’t great, the chorus is very strong and the song high drama – B+
– Good Morning Heartache – Jamie Cullum, Laura Mvula – Mvula has a terrific voice, a little trebley – B+
– White Lies – Milo Greene – Not bad, mix n match soul and beats and rock, but not going anywhere – B
– Your Fool – Natalie Prass – the bridge here is very good, horns leading her on and that falsetto always good enough and then she dips back down for the verse . Then strings – B+
– Fake Rose – The Lone Bellows – Nice harmonies, good song – B+
– Skeletons – Papa Roach – Mediocre – B-
