Who is Sia really? I have never really paid attention to her but the Australian musician has collaborated with tons of people and she has just dropped a video for her new song ‘Elastic Heart’. I would have never watched it if people hadn’t baited me with the headline ‘Controversy about pedophilia’?
In the video, half-naked Shia LaBeouf and Maddie Ziegler are dancing in a birdcage as if they were animals, and the look of the film is a bit post-apocalyptic-futurist, a bit human animals captured on the planet of the apes…. but the video is artistic and intensely choreographed, as the two characters dance like agile monkeys, fight like angry felids and the young girl escapes through the bars at the end, unable to bring the guy with her.
Then, followed an avalanche of tweets criticizing the video and accusing it to promote pedophilia? Because Shia is 28 and Maddie only 12? But they hardly touch each other and when they do, it is done the way dancers do it, softly, gracefully,… there may be something animal in the way they dance, but in this case any ballet can be accused of the same thing because these ballerinas are generally very young.
In any case, Sia should have stayed quiet, but instead she apologized!!

Really I don’t get it, saying something like this is an admission that pedophilia was in the back of your mind! And even though it would be about pedophilia, so what? It’s supposed to be art, not real life and you should never apologize for art!
At least this made me write about Sia for the first time, but wait, I haven’t even listened to the music.
