No Pop, Classic Rock Or Reggae At Music Fest 2015

Looking through the list of artists performing at Governors Ball this June, I was surprised at a sort of slackness to the list.

Essentially, this is EDM and indie.

I felt there were holes from the first moment I saw it, the top position seemed a little bland. But once you go in deep, it is blander.

Pop – This is the biggest hole in the lineup. No Taylor Swift? Assume they couldn’t get her. But Justin Bieber? Arianna Grande? Ellie Goulding? Jessie J? This is bereft of the most popular music in the country. Why would they have NOTHING? Not even an attempt? Where is Sam Smith? Perhaps worse of all, where is Meghan Trainor? Trainor is tailor made for pure pop, why is she not here?

Hip Hop – OK, yeah, Drake… there’s one. Then what? Kate Tempest? At least they made an effort last year with Outkast, Chance The Rapper, Tyler and Earl, J. Cole. Where is the urban contemporary and let’s be even clearer: If they got Drake, where the hell is Minaj???

Country: Sturgill Simpson and then what? with the country fest three weeks later, and by the same folks, why not get just one country star, like a real one, Eric Church or someone. For flavor. A Brandi Carlisle. Hey, a Lydia Loveless. But nooooooooooooooooooo.

Classic Rock: Petty? Bruce? Amy one at all…? Mope, not a sausage,. I mean cmon Chromeo and Deadmau5??? Do we need that much EDM???

Reggae: Chronnixx but then nothing at all. No Reagaeton, not a Daddy Yankee in sight. Nothing.
