Do we really need another of this super group? And a super group featuring once again Dave Grohl, yes this guy has to be the busiest man on earth or he has some super powers that allow him to skip sleep, I am not sure…. Whatever you may think, the banding of another of these super groups is upon us.
The name? Teenage Time Killer, which is totally ridiculous when you think about the average age of all the members, but that’s probably their point.
The members? Corrosion of Conformity, a heavy metal band from Raleigh I had never heard about but they have released seven studio albums so they have been around, plus omnipresent and already named Dave Grohl, Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe, ex-Queens of the Stone Age’s Nick Oliveri, Clutch’s Neil Fallon, Dead Kennedys’ Jello Biafra, Fear’s Lee Ving, OFF!’s Keith Morris, Prong’s Tommy Victor, Misfits’ Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein, Red Fang’s Aaron Beam, Scream’s Pete Stahl, Sunn O)))’s Greg Anderson, Bl’ast’s Clifford Dinsmore, Brujeria’s Pat Hoed, My Ruin’s Mick Murphy and Tairrie B. Murphy, Articles of Faith’s Vic Bondi, Municipal Waste’s Tony Foresta, Sacred Reich’s Phil Rind, and the list goes on and on. Keep in mind that I don’t know most of these people, but metal is a world by itself.
From what I get, this sounds like a sort of live aid for metal-hardcore veterans without the aid, and of course the songs were recorded at Grohl’s studio 606 in the Los Angeles valley, on the famous Sound City mixing board, according to Kerrang!
Corrosion of Conformity posted the video below on their Facebook page, showing part some footage of the recording in another studio, in Raleigh… C.O.C. drummer Mullin declared to Rolling Stone: ‘Dave Grohl’s folks – his management and marketing people – are going to help us do all that with the thing. We recorded about 98 percent of it at his studio. They were talking about…maybe do something like Kimmel and have three or four different singers come out at one time, like Jello and Lee Ving, maybe Randy from Lamb of God, something like that. All the songs are real short, so we could do, easily, four songs and not go over.’
At the end, the real news is this last element, doing the Kimmel show? Metal-hardcore going totally mainstream? I am not by far a metal head, but if you have heard anything by Sunn O))) or Brujeria, this is totally impressive.
