Wolf Alice Ready For Their Close Up
Wolf Alice Ready For Their Close Up

1. Bros – Wolf Alice – This is a huge breakthrough track for them, the new EP doesn’t have its equal and the first written by Ellie Rowsell, soon to adorn many an alt kids bedroom wall, the Guardian call them grunge meets folk, meaning they play lo hi with the balance on hi – A-

2. Air Guitar – McBusted – Catchy rock pop,  quite funny as well – B+

3. Heaven/Where true Love grows – Cat Stevens – I wish I had mentioned this when I wrote my review, it is the sort of aphorism Stevens aka Yusuf has always written and it is one of the best, sage advice indeed: follow true love – A

4. In The Still Of The Night – The Five Satins – I’ve been reading Greil Marcus’s new book, where he chooses ten songs and tries to tell the story of rock behind them. This is a great song, especially the lead vocal, but it isn’t what he claims for it – A

5. Never Again (Live from Prison) – Griffin House – He coulda taken a Golf scholarship AND become a singer songwriter but whatever – B+

6. Rubber Bullets – 10cc – Doo wop, a  live ten minute version – B

7. Smells Like Teen Spirit – Noah Gundersen – A brutally bad idea, a sad slow drag of a version about the sad slow drag of life – C-

8. Kisses For Breakfast – Melisa Steel, Popcaan – Catchy electronic pop – B

9. I Loved You – Blonde, Melisa Steel – Heavy duty remix – B-

10. Even My Dad Does Sometimes – Sometimes I wonder if I’d have made a good Dad, I am sure I’d have been great at crying – A
