Manu Koch’s four song EP with Filtron M Mandatory Underground released in November blew away everyone who bothered to listen, travelling through the backroads of jazz and beats, it reminded me of all the greats, all the people who delved into rock and a whirling world of sound eccentricities that came together in the middle of your brain. But jazz is an improvisational art form that works on the back of your brain and my word to you is, see it live at the Iridium this Monday december 8th, watch it breath!!
Here is the PR release:
“Manu Koch & Filtron M
CD Release Party
December 8 @ 9pm
Iridium – 1650 Broadway, NYC
In the age of musical and cultural multiplicity Swiss keyboardist, pianist and composer Manu Koch has created the platform Filtron M to present his blend of sounds with a wide range of extraordinary musicians. A New York resident since 2000 he has toured internationally with Afro Pop icon Angélique Kidjo, the New York Gypsy All-Stars, collaborated on projects with Miles Davis/Santana bassist Benny Rietveld and since 2011 has become a vital element in various productions by singer/songwriter/guitarist Tomás Doncker.
Filtron M’s debut album Mandatory Underground is released on Doncker’s True Groove label and showcases the bands Unique Afrique and Astoria Roots. Bassist Panagiotis Andreou and drummer Mauricio Zottarelli of the latter unit will be featured at this CD Release Party who collectively have worked with artists such as Hiromi, Esperanza Spalding, Lee Ritenour, Eliane Elias, Wayne Krantz, Now vs Now and Pedrito Martinez to name a few.
They will be joined by the outstanding talents of Chilean vocalist/guitarist Camila Meza, Colombian percussionist Samuel Torres, kanun master Tamer Pinarbasi from Turkey and True Groove family member David Barnes on blues harp. An exciting night of eclectic, groove filled music is guaranteed!“
