I bought a ticket for Conor Oberst And friends WFUV Christmas Concert December 8 the day it went on sale. Why?
- I couldn’t think of a worse way to see Conor then that bloody awful Summerstage gig. Everybody milling around and talking… yuck.
- I so loved that Bright Eyes Christmas album last year and can we hope and pray young Maria Taylor shows up.
So, between the two, I figured I’d try again. Plus, I’ve caught most of Conor’s New York performances over the last six years, I kinda have to.
So, cool. BUT IF YOU’RE ON THE FENCE… THE RETURN OF LAURA MARLING!!!
We haven’t heard much from Laura this year. There was that “Bonny Portmore” song and there was the Beck track but that’s about it. She has settled into evenings at Largo, days in coffee shops, and the rest of the time lathering herself in suntan lotion that absorbs or reflects some of of the sun’s ultra violet radiation. And for this she doesn’t live in New York?
Well, at least we will get her for one day this winter and in a nice room, the Beacon is glorious. My hope is Laura will take one look at the Rockefeller center christmas tree and start singing “I Think I’m Gonna Like It Here” and move.
Meanwhile, buy your ticket now.
