Nicki Minaj Has A Pro-Nazi New Video? What Was She Thinking?

Why are people still obsessed with Nazi imagery? Do they just want to provoke, are they in love with the black swastika and the red and white design? I have no idea why would anyone be still using the pro-Hitler imagery if he or she is not a white supremacist sympathizer… However the last Nicki Minaj’s last video is heavily bathing in the Third Reich colors and symbolism.

The animation shows Minaj in the role of Hitler — there is no other way to see this thing — sitting on a throne in front of armies of soldiers wearing armbands with a logo very similar to the infamous swastika, and according to Consequence of Sound, ‘Brown [Chris] is represented as a military general, Wayne [Lil] as a head of business, and Drake as a Pope,’ Pope Pius XII, who eventually refused to take position when facing the horrors done by the Nazis.

The video was directed by Jeff Osborne, and I can’t even imagine the controversy Osborne and Minaj are starting… If she wanted to illustrate how much she rules the world (does she?) may be other imageries were available? I am all for symbolism and references in videos, but this one is so heavily loaded she will not get away with it this time. Why choosing the imagery of a tyran, a dictator responsible for a holocaust which killed 6 million Jews when you already have been accused of anti-semitism? Oh sure, you’re gonna say, there’s nothing new there, it has been done so many times before! Sid Vicious? David Bowie? Marilyn Manson? And I am probably forgetting many others, so it’s not even original, Nazis have become such a beat up cliché in music that I should not even mention this new clip. Personally, I think the lyrics are much more offensive than this cheap cartoon, but still, she has managed to start a controversy, and everyone is talking about it… otherwise who would even listen to this crap?
