I saw some ads while driving around town, Odd Future is having its annual carnival, its ‘Camp Flog Gnaw’ to be exact, at the LA Coliseum on November 8th and Pharrell Williams is the headliner, with a very long bill including Rick Ross, Mac Miller, Murs, the Grouch, Eligh, Action Bronson, Cherry Glazerr, Freddie Gibbs, as well as the usual suspects, like Tyler the Creator, Earl Sweatshirt, The Internet, Hodgy Beas, Left Brain…. and some others.
And if you have a carnival, with rides and stuff, you also have a raffle, right? The good news is that each festival attendee will get a raffle ticket that will enter them to win the prize, and the prize is…huge! According to Stereogum, it is not a CD, not a t-shirt, not a stupid cap or that kind of merchandize you usually get at raffle, we are talking about a car, a real one. a customized red-and-white-striped 1990 BMW 325is. Wow!
In the YouTube video below, Tyler takes the car for a fast driving test, as, of course, the news was announced through Instagram and other social media. Honestly, I had never heard of anything like this, a BMW is some kind of gift for attending a music festival! At best I have received a cardboard fan or a keychain! And what does it say about Odd Future’s entrepreneurial spirit? That these guys are really making lots of money if they can afford to give away a BMW or they are very desperate to sell more tickets? I don’t think so as the pre-sale and the General Admission passes are already sold out…
