David Guetta Gets An All-Star Cast For His Next Album

My disdain for David Guetta has no limit, I cannot say enough bad things about the French dance music producer or DJ,… call him whatever you want but I can’t say enough bad things about what he tries to sell us for music,… I am not even sure that his repetitive mono-note noise should be called music. There is a satirical series on French TV, very inspired by the British show Spitting image, which makes fun of Guetta all the time. In one episode, a piano maker is tailoring a piano for Guetta, and of course the piano has only one note, ‘a Do’, says the piano maker and Guetta answered, ‘cool off, I know nothing about music notation!’ You can watch it here, it’s hilarious…. I heard he has composed entire albums in taxis and planes, and I bet he was using a Simon, do you remember about this thing? Everything he does sounds the same, with a cheap and poor sound, but people like it a lot, to my complete stupefaction.

So Guetta has a new album, another insipid series of his BS music I guess, and, surprise, he has a series of all-star guests!!! Look at this track list below! John Legend? Sia? Nicki Minaj? Afrojack? And probably the most surprising of all, The Ladysmith Black Mambabzo? Are the South African guys  so desperate for money? I can’t blame them, but I wonder what they will be able to do with his sterile beats.

According to the Guardian, Guetta calls the album his ‘most personal album’ ever, made ‘from the heart’ and ‘outside his comfort zone’… whatever this means, but he named it ‘Listen’, and it’s true that Guetta has always found a perfect simple word to describe simple things…

‘I could have chosen to repeat the style that has become so successful for me, but I wanted to grow as a producer and push myself to the limit,’ he explained in a statement. ‘[I wanted to] create songs that stand up whether played by a DJ, a rock band or an orchestra.’

Can I give him the benefice of the doubt? No way, he has produced too much crap in the pst for that! We’ll see or rather listen to ‘Listen’ on November 24th, the day the album is out, and, as usual, I am sure it will reach the top of the charts, because as someone said, every time a jazz musician plays 3,000 chords in front of 3 people, David Guetta plays 3 chords in front of 3,000 people… and by 3 chords I may be very generous.
